After a major traffic jam on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway for the past 32 hours was cleared on Thursday, a jam was reported again on Friday morning, February 6, near Bhor Ghat due to a vehicle breakdown. Many vehicles remained stuck at Bhor Ghat, bringing movement to a complete standstill in the early hours. Officials said traffic will not return to normal until the stranded vehicles are cleared.
According to media reports, long queues of vehicles were reported between Amrutanjan Bridge and Khalapur Toll Plaza. Traffic was moving very slowly in the Khopoli area, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered MSRDC to investigate the incident and submit a detailed report with recommendations to prevent similar situations in the future. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also reviewed the situation. He instructed officials to prepare an emergency traffic plan and expedite work on the missing link.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray criticised the government. He said passengers suffered immensely while authorities only announced another inquiry. Referring to multiple such incidents, he questioned whether the government and administration would ever learn from them. Thackeray said that while stopping traffic after the tanker overturned around 5 pm on February 3 was correct for safety reasons, the administration should have had a plan to clear the road quickly in such emergencies.
