Mumbai Ranked 14th Best Food City In The World, USA's New Orleans Tops the List

Mumbai is one of the best 20 cities of the world when it comes to food. In 2025, Mumbai made it on the special list of Global Publication for best food destinations. The list was recently released by Time Out, and Mumbai was in the 14th position.

Time Out has highlighted the street food of Mumbai. It said that the go-to places for quick snacks when one is hungry are the khau gallis (food streets) dotting neighbourhoods from southern Zaveri Bazaar to northern Ghatkopar. The post about Mumbai said, “Between savoury chaat, jumbo-sandwiches, veggie-laden 'pizzas', Beirut-inspired Frankie-wraps, and dry-fruit topped falooda, every bite is far from demure - never subtle and never shy.”

Time Out said that they conducted surveys in all the cities and asked the locals to rate the food. The ratings were made across 18 different criteria, including quality, affordability, and attributes from 'family-friendly' to 'experimental.' The publication’s in-house food experts and critics also scored the food destinations.

Mumbai was given 5th rank for best food in the city by the travel guide, Taste Atlas. This was done as a part of the year-end Taste Atlas Awards 2024-25.
