In a daring daylight burglary, thieves decamped with gold and silver jewellery and other valuables worth approximately ₹41 lakh from a residence located on Prarthana Samaj Road in the posh Vile Parle East area. The incident has triggered panic among local residents. Vile Parle Police have registered a case against unknown persons and intensified the investigation. CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas is being scrutinised to identify the accused.

According to information provided by Vile Parle Police, the complainant, Pravin Pathare (63), who is engaged in stock market investments, resides with his wife on the ground floor of the Pathare bungalow. On January 19, 2026, at around 6.35 pm, the couple stepped out for tea. During this time, Pathare’s wife also went out to buy milk, locking both the security door and the main door before leaving.

At around 7.20 pm, when she returned home, she noticed that the locks of both doors had been broken. Upon entering the house, it was found that the iron cupboard and locker in one of the rooms had also been forcibly opened. Gold and silver jewellery along with silver utensils kept inside the cupboard were missing. The husband was immediately informed, following which the entire incident came to light.

The stolen valuables include gold necklaces, mangalsutras, armlets, bangles, bracelets, rings, chains, as well as a large quantity of silver items such as kalash, lamps, plates, diyas and other puja-related articles. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at ₹41,30000.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Vile Parle Police have registered an FIR against unknown accused under Sections 305, 331(3) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway, and efforts are on to trace the suspects with the help of CCTV footage from nearby areas.
