While the incident of rape in a bus at Swargate bus stand was fresh, a 21-year-old girl travelling in an ST bus from Mumbai to Maloshi was molested by an off-duty conductor in the same bus on Tuesday night at Maitri Park in Chembur. As soon as the girl screamed, the conductor ran away. Angry passengers beat up the on-duty conductor Manesh Tayde, asking why he let him run away. following the incident Govandi police have registered a case against the accused conductor Vilas Valmik Munde and handed him over to Bhoiwada police.

The ST bus (MH 13 CU 8594) going to Maloshi left Mumbai Central depot at 8:30 pm on Tuesday. The accused conductor Munde, who had left for home after completing his duty, was travelling in the same bus. As soon as the bus reached the Maitri mark area, he held the hand of the girl sitting in the first seat and behaved rudely. As soon as she screamed, the conductor got down at the signal and ran away. A case has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway, said Senior Police Inspector Sachin Kadam of Bhoiwada Police Station.

ST conductor suspended

The conductor, Vilas Valmik Munde, who molested a young woman in an ST bus, has been suspended. Munde was not on duty but was traveling in that bus. Munde, who was drunk, molested the young girl and got off the bus and ran away. Due to this, angry passengers in the bus beat up the conductor on duty, said the corporation officials. Keeping in mind the seriousness of the case, the conductor has been suspended immediately and the process of registering a case is underway. For the safety of passengers, CCTV cameras will be installed in all new and old buses, said ST Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Madhav Kusekar
