A 28-year-old woman from Goregaon has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her lover and two of his friends. The woman, identified as Ranju Chauhan, reportedly conspired to eliminate her husband, Chandrashekhar Chauhan (35), as he was an obstacle in her extramarital affair. The Dindoshi police have launched an investigation into the case.

According to the police, an FIR has been registered under Sections 103(1) and 61(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. While Ranju Chauhan and one of her accomplices have been arrested, her lover and another aide are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them.

As per reports, Chandrashekhar Chauhan, who worked as a laborer on film sets, was found unconscious at his home on Saturday morning. He was immediately rushed to Trauma Care Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Initially, as the preliminary post-mortem report was unavailable, the police recorded the case as an accidental death.

Ranju Chauhan informed the police that her husband was in good health the previous night and had gone to sleep as usual. However, when he did not wake up in the morning and showed no response, she called for help. Her statement, however, raised suspicion.

Upon further investigation, the police examined her mobile call records, which provided a crucial lead. Ranju had claimed she slept at 1:30 AM, but records showed she was in communication with two individuals after that time. This contradiction prompted a deeper probe.

Upon sustained interrogation, Ranju Chauhan confessed to the crime. She admitted to strangling her husband with the help of her lover and his two friends. During the crime, she was present at the scene and had even gathered wooden sticks and other objects, planning to use them if her husband resisted.

Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Smita Patil and Senior Inspector Ajay Afale from Dindoshi Police Station, the case was cracked within six hours. Ranju Chauhan and her associate, Moinuddin Latif Khan (20), were arrested on charges of murder and conspiracy. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to nab the absconding accused, identified as her lover Shahrukh and his friend Shivdas. Three special teams have been formed to track them down.

Further investigations are ongoing.
