A shocking incident of molestation involving a 15-year-old minor girl has come to light in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai. An unidentified man allegedly caught hold of the girl’s hand on a public road and showed her pornographic videos on his mobile phone, outraging her modesty. The Sakinaka police have registered a case against the unknown accused under sections related to molestation and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and launched a probe.
According to the police, the minor girl resides with her family in the Sakinaka area. On January 12, she had gone for her regular classes. After the class ended, at around 5.45 pm, she was walking back home when an unknown person approached her. On the busy street, the man allegedly held her hand, showed obscene videos on his mobile phone and attempted to misbehave with her. Terrified by the incident, the girl managed to escape and ran home.
Out of fear, the victim initially did not disclose the incident to anyone. However, on Tuesday, she approached the Sakinaka police station and lodged a complaint against the unidentified person. Taking serious note of the complaint, the police registered an offence under sections pertaining to outraging modesty along with various sections of the POCSO Act.
As the incident occurred on January 12 at around 5.45 pm, the police have seized CCTV footage from the surrounding area for that day. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused through the footage, and the police have assured that the आरोपी will be arrested soon.
The incident has triggered outrage among local residents, who have expressed strong anger over such an act against a minor girl in a public place.
