A traffic warden lost his life in a tragic road accident while on duty at the Mumbai Coastal Road. The deceased has been identified as Rafique Wazir Shaikh, aged 39, who was serving as a traffic warden.

The incident took place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at around 5:21 pm. According to reports, a speeding tempo was heading from Tata Garden toward Worli on the Dharamveer Sambhaji Raje Coastal Road. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, Traffic Warden Rafique Shaikh began chasing it on his scooter.

While pursuing the tempo, Shaikh lost control of his scooter at a curved stretch of the coastal road. The two-wheeler collided with the cement barricade on the side of the road, causing him to be thrown off the bridge and into the sea.

 

Following the accident, the fire brigade promptly reached the spot and rescued Shaikh from the water. He was immediately rushed to Nair Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

 

The Gamdevi Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are conducting further investigations into the incident.
