A 23-year-old woman has filed a complaint with the Kurar Police alleging that her former boyfriend has been stalking her and issuing threats to her as well as her family members. Based on her statement, the police have registered a First Information Report under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to stalking. The complainant is employed with a private firm and resides in Malad East along with her parents and siblings. According to the police, the matter came to light after the woman approached them with details of repeated harassment and intimidation that she and her family had allegedly been facing.
As per the complaint, the woman came into contact with the 22-year-old accused nearly two years ago through Snapchat. Their online interaction gradually developed into regular conversations after they exchanged mobile numbers. In April 2025, they met in person for the first time near her residence. Following this meeting, they continued to see each other frequently and entered into a romantic relationship. However, her family did not approve of the alliance. Due to their objections and mounting pressure at home, the woman eventually decided to end the relationship and cut off communication with him.
The situation escalated in January 2026 after the woman got engaged to another man. Upon learning about her engagement, the accused allegedly began following her and monitoring her movements. He is accused of threatening her family, demanding that they cancel the engagement and warning of serious consequences if they failed to do so. Both the woman and her father reportedly tried on separate occasions to reason with him and urged him to move forward with his life, but their efforts did not yield any positive outcome.
According to the complaint, the accused did not stop at threats and allegedly attempted to tarnish the woman’s reputation. Disturbed by the continued harassment and alleged attempts to defame her, she decided to seek legal intervention. She recently approached the Kurar Police Station and formally lodged a complaint. Acting on her statement, the police registered an FIR and have initiated further investigation into the matter to determine the extent of the alleged stalking, threats, and defamation.
