A shocking incident at Mulund railway station created panic in the area after a 21-year-old man allegedly dragged a 19-year-old woman to the station platform and threatened to set himself on fire by pouring petrol on himself in a public place. The accused later fled the spot taking advantage of the chaos. Mulund Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to police source 19-year-old victim, is a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Mulund East and works at a mobile shop on Zaver Road. In her statement to the police, she said that she came in contact with the accused, Purab Manohar Gore (21), in 2024, and the two were in a relationship for some time. However, due to frequent quarrels and alleged mental harassment, she severed all ties with him in December 2025.
Despite this, the accused allegedly continued to stalk her and kept watch on her movements, especially near her workplace. On Tuesday around 11 am, when the victim reached near her workplace, the accused confronted her. When she refused to speak with him, he allegedly grabbed her hand and forcibly dragged her to the nearby Mulund railway station platform.
According to the victim, once inside the station premises, the accused forcibly checked her mobile phone and then took out a small bottle filled with petrol from his pocket and poured it on himself. He allegedly threatened that if she refused to resume the relationship, he would set himself ablaze.
The incident triggered panic among commuters and locals present at the station. As the victim raised an alarm, a crowd gathered at the spot. Taking advantage of the commotion, the accused fled the scene.
The victim immediately approached Mulund Police Station and lodged a complaint under relevant sections of the law. Police have registered an FIR and begun scanning CCTV footage from the railway station and nearby areas. Officials stated that the accused has been clearly identified and will be arrested soon.
