A speeding Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) garbage truck struck two elderly women crossing the road in Mumbai's Kandivali. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, claimed the life of one 72-year-old woman and left her companion seriously injured, reported the news agency IANS.

According to IANS, the two women, both aged 72, were attempting to cross a busy street when the speeding truck struck them. One died on the spot; another woman was rushed to the hospital by locals and received treatment. The driver was arrested by Mumba Police. More details are awaited.

Late at night on Sunday, a car crashed into a divider on the Bandra Worli Sea Link at around 1.43 am. The accident took place when a drunk car driver, with his two friends, coming from Haji Ali side when their car met with an accident on road number 7.

All three received minor injuries and were admitted to the Paras Nursing Home in Kandivali West, according to the FPJ report. During the investigation, police found the driver was intoxicated and the vehicle hit the driver after he lost control. A medical test at JJ Hospital confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol. He was booked under various sections of drunk and driving.
