Budget carrier SpiceJet on Friday announced its entry into Imphal with the launch of its first-ever flight services to the Manipur capital, a move aimed at strengthening air links with the Northeast. From February 10, the airline will operate daily Boeing 737 flights connecting Imphal with Mumbai, Kolkata and Guwahati. SpiceJet said the expansion is part of its efforts to improve accessibility to regions with limited air connectivity. The new routes are expected to enhance travel convenience while offering passengers more reliable options to reach Manipur from major metropolitan cities across the country.

Passengers travelling from Mumbai will be able to use a seamless single-aircraft service that includes a short stopover in Kolkata, eliminating the need to change planes during the journey. Meanwhile, travellers flying from Kolkata and Guwahati will have the benefit of direct, non-stop flights to Imphal. The airline stated that this routing structure has been planned to ensure smoother connections and reduced travel stress. By offering flexible and efficient services, SpiceJet aims to cater to the needs of both business and leisure passengers heading to the northeastern state.

The airline said the launch is particularly significant for Manipur, which currently has limited flight options. The daily services are expected to greatly improve accessibility for residents, students, medical travellers, government officials and businesses. In addition to direct connectivity with Mumbai, Kolkata and Guwahati, passengers will also gain access to onward domestic and select international destinations through SpiceJet’s wider network. Chief Business Officer Debojo Maharshi said the Imphal launch marks an important milestone, underlining the airline’s focus on expanding its footprint in the Northeast.
