Mumbai Traffic Police have announced a detailed traffic advisory ahead of a special drone show scheduled at Shivaji Park on Sunday to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Officials anticipate a massive gathering for the event, which will showcase a grand drone presentation depicting the life, achievements, and contributions of Dr Ambedkar. To prevent traffic chaos and maintain smooth vehicle movement around the Dadar area, temporary road restrictions and diversions will be enforced between 5 pm and 10 pm on Sunday. The advisory was issued through a notification released by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Headquarters and Central division, Mumbai.
According to the traffic plan, Keluskar Road South and Keluskar Road North will remain shut for general vehicular movement during the event hours. Only authorised vehicles and invitees will be permitted to use these roads. Traffic police have also declared SK Bole Road as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Portuguese Church Junction for the specified period. Entry of vehicles from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road near Yes Bank will remain prohibited. Officials stated that these measures are necessary to manage the expected crowd near Shivaji Park and avoid severe traffic congestion in surrounding areas during the drone show celebrations.
Motorists travelling from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road have been advised to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience. Vehicles will be diverted through SK Bole Road, Gokhale Road, Gadkari Junction, LJ Road, and Raja Bade Chowk before proceeding towards the western suburbs. Similarly, commuters approaching from Yes Bank Junction towards Siddhivinayak Junction have been instructed to travel through Pandurang Naik Road, Raja Bade Chowk, LJ Road, Gadkari Junction, and Gokhale Road before heading towards South Mumbai. Traffic police said the restrictions have been imposed under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Mumbai Police regulations to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management during the large-scale programme.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Traffic Police have also introduced a temporary no-parking arrangement on a narrow internal road in Mahim to reduce congestion and improve accessibility for local residents and emergency vehicles. The restricted stretch connects Shitladevi Road to Zinia Co-operative Housing Society and is maintained by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Authorities observed that vehicles, particularly two-wheelers parked on both sides of the lane, were creating serious obstructions and affecting movement for residents living in Buildings A and B of the housing society. An official notification issued on Saturday confirmed that the temporary no-parking order will remain effective until July 10.
Under the temporary arrangement, parking on both sides of the internal road has been completely prohibited. Traffic officials stated that the decision was taken after repeated complaints regarding blocked access and inconvenience caused by indiscriminate parking in the area. Police personnel will monitor the stretch regularly to ensure compliance with the new rules. Authorities have appealed to residents, vehicle owners, and daily commuters to cooperate with enforcement teams and strictly follow the parking restrictions. Officials added that the initiative aims to improve road safety, maintain smooth traffic flow, and ensure uninterrupted access for emergency and residential vehicles in the Mahim locality.
