Mumbai: A tragic incident reported in Mumbai's Goregaon west were two labourers suffocated while cleaning deep drain. This incident occurred near Mega Mall on February 3, 2026 around 3.40 am. In this one labourer died another one got injured. As per the officials the men employed by a private company were cleaning a drainage line located near link road which was approx 25 to 30 feet deep and six feet wide.
While working both the labourers experienced breathing issue, due to suspected toxic gases or may be because of lack of oxygen. Following the incident, company personnel managed to pull one man out of the drain with rope. Then Fire brigade teams then carried out a rescue operation to pull out the second labourer and both of them shifted to trauma care hospital for treatment.
In separate incident, On the evening of January 28, Constable Sushant More was fatally injured while on traffic duty on the northbound Rey Road ramp of the Eastern Freeway when a speeding car hit him. According to eyewitnesses, the driver attempted to brake but was unable to avoid hitting Constable More, causing severe injuries. The driver has been identified as Shirish kumar Jore, 57, an employee of the Mumbai Port Trust, who was traveling towards Chembur.
Sewree police have registered a case against Jore for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A medical examination confirmed that Jore was not under the influence of alcohol. Constable More's death on Monday morning has deeply affected the police department, which has pledged support to his family. The Sewree police are continuing their investigation.
