Mumbai Water Cut: Bandra to Face Complete Shutdown on February 10th as BMC Undertakes Urgent Repairs

Several parts of Mumbai will face significant water supply disruptions this week as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carries out urgent repair and infrastructure upgrade works. While parts of Bandra will experience a complete water shutdown on Tuesday, select areas in the M East and M West wards will face a prolonged 30-hour suspension from Thursday to Friday.

Bandra Water Cut on Tuesday

The BMC is repairing a leakage in a 900-mm diameter water pipeline near the Qureshi Nagar slum in Kurla East. The work is scheduled from 10 am to midnight on Tuesday. During this 14-hour period, water supply will be completely suspended in several areas of the H West ward, which includes Bandra, while a few localities will receive water at low pressure.

Areas likely to face a complete shutdown include Hill Road, Perry Road, Manuel Gonsalves Road, St Andrews Road, St Paul Road, Carter Road, Pali Village, Chimbai Village, Shirley Village and Kantwadi in Bandra West. Khar Danda, Koliwada, Dandpada, Chui Gaothan, Gazdarbandh slum and parts of Khar West will also be affected.

Additional areas such as Hanuman Nagar slum, Laxmi Nagar, Union Park Roads 1 to 4, Pali Hill, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, Pali Pathar slum and the 15th to 20th Roads in Khar will face supply disruption. Water will also remain suspended in parts of Bandra West including Chapel Road, Veronica Road, Dr Peter Dias Road, St John Baptist Road, Mount Mary Cathedral area and adjoining roads, KC Road, LK Mehta Road, sections of Bazaar Road, AK Vaidya Road, Zigzag Road, Koldongri, Nargis Dutt Road and Pali Mala Road.

Meanwhile, areas from the end of Hill Road up to Taj Lands End, along with BJ Road, HK Bhabha Road, Kane Road and the Ganesh slum area, will receive water at low pressure. Supply in these areas will be available between 1 am and 4 am.

30-Hour Water Cut in M East and M West Wards

As part of a major infrastructure upgrade, water supply will be completely suspended in select areas of the M East and M West wards from 2 am on Thursday till 8 am on Friday. During this period, the civic body will install a 1200-mm diameter sluice valve on the inlet pipeline at the Turbhe low-level reservoir and connect the pipeline to the AMT-II tunnel shaft.

In the M East ward, affected areas include HPCL Refinery and Colony, Varun Beverages, BARC, Gavhanpada, IOCL, BPCL Colony, Tata Colony, Nityanand Baug, Rane Chawl, RCF Colony, Old Refinery Area, Bharat Nagar, J Plot, Hashu Advani Nagar, Anik Village, MACB Colony, Sahyadri Nagar, RNA Udyan, MHADA colonies, Rockline Buildings, Vishnu Nagar, Videocon Buildings, SG Chemical Buildings, Prayag Nagar, Om Ganesh Nagar, Rahul Nagar and Ashok Nagar.

In the M West ward, areas such as BPT, Tata, BPCL, Mahul Village, Marwali Church, Mahul SRA, Farukh Galli, Khadi Machine, RC Marg, Sindhi Society, Vashi Naka, Amba Pada, Jijamata Nagar, Sailila Ramtekdi, Tolaram Tower, Chembur Camp, Ganesh Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Konkan Nagar, Vashigaon, MHADA buildings, Mukund Nagar SRA, Laxmi Nagar, Mitul Enclave, Mysore Colony, MS buildings and Vijay Nagar will be impacted.

BMC Advisory

The civic body has urged residents to store adequate water in advance, use it judiciously during the disruption period and boil and filter drinking water as a precautionary measure. Citizens have also been requested to cooperate with municipal authorities while the repair and upgrade works are carried out.
