Mumbai, Feb 28: A major water pipeline leak in Mumbai has hit water supply to parts of the city, inconveniencing residents. The metropolis, dependent on a water supply network owned by the civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), witnesses water cuts regularly due to maintenance, repair, and pipeline issues disrupting supply to thousands of households, commercial establishments, and civic institutions. This time, a leak developed in the 1800mm water pipeline at Powai-Venturi, reducing supplies to Ghatkopar and Kurla drastically, with Ghatkopar reservoir getting no supply.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is conducting urgent repairs, which are expected to take 15 hours. As a result, water supply in parts of N and L Wards will be affected from Friday, February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM to Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 8:00 AM.

Affected Areas:

N Ward: Wards 123, 124, 126, 127, 128, 130 including Anandgad, Shankar Mandir, Ram Nagar, Hanuman Mandir, Rahul Nagar, Kailas Nagar, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Varsha Nagar, Jay Malhar Nagar, Khandoba Tekdi, Shivaji Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Nirankari Colony, Varsha Nagar Tank, D and C Municipal Colony, Raigad Area, Gaodevi Pathan Chawl, Amrut Nagar, Indira Nagar 2, Amina Bai Chawl, Katodi Pada, Bhim Nagar, Indira Nagar 1, Altaf Nagar, Gelda Nagar, Jagdusha Nagar, Golibar Marg, Seva Nagar, ONGC Colony, Mazgaon Bunder Colony, Gangawadi Entrance No. 2, Vikhroli Park Site (Anandgad Tank area), Siddharth Nagar, Sainath Nagar, Patidar Wadi, Bhatwadi, Barve Nagar, Kaju Tekdi, New Dayasagar, and Ramji Nagar.

L Ward: Wards 156, 158, 159, 160, 161, 164 including Sangharsh Nagar, Khairani Marg, Yadav Nagar, JMM Marg, Laxminarayan Mandir Marg, Kulkarniwadi, Sardarwadi, D'Souza Compound, Ayyappa Mandir Marg, Mohili Pipeline, Loyalka Compound, Parera Wadi, Indra Market, Bhanushali Wadi, Asalpha Village, NSS Marg, Narayan Nagar, Sane Guruji Pumping, Hill No. 3, Bhim Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Himalaya Society, Valmiki Marg, Noorani Masjid, Mukund Compound, Sanjay Nagar, Samata Nagar, Gaiban Shah Baba Dargah Marg.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) appeals to residents in the affected areas to use water judiciously and cooperate with the administration during this period.
