The suspected poisoning case involving the death of four members of a family in Paydhonie has taken a fresh turn, with police widening the scope of the investigation. Food items and water samples from the house have now been sent for forensic examination, and all eyes are on the report.
According to police sources, watermelon kept in the refrigerator, chicken biryani, and water samples from the residence of the deceased family have been seized and sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis. Following the incident, police sealed the room and preserved all evidence found at the scene.
Preliminary information suggests that the family consumed chicken pulao at night and later ate watermelon around 1.30 am. Soon after, all four reportedly fell ill. Due to the suspected poisoning, Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen Dokadia (35), daughter Ayesha (16), and younger daughter Zainab (13) lost their lives.
The tragic incident has triggered grief and shock in the locality.
Meanwhile, police have also traced the watermelon vendor concerned and recorded his statement as part of the investigation. Officials are probing whether the deaths were caused by food poisoning or some other factor.
The forensic report is being considered crucial in determining the exact cause of death. Police are investigating all possible angles, and clarity is expected soon on whether the tragedy was an accidental poisoning or something else.
