In the build-up to the World Cup, India registered convincing series victories against Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand, winning the five-match contests by margins of 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1, respectively. Their form continued in the lone warm-up game in Navi Mumbai, where the co-hosts piled up an imposing 240/6 in 20 overs before defeating South Africa, underlining their batting firepower and squad depth ahead of the tournament.
The warm-up encounter also indicated a possible shift in India’s usual playing combination, with out-of-form wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson missing out.
