Mumbaikars are experiencing extreme heat since the first week of March and this temperature is expected to rise high in coming days. IMD issued a fresh heatwave warning in isolated pockets of Mumbai for March 13 and 14 . Citizens have already witnessed 3 days of heatwave conditions in last 12 days on March 5, 9, 10 and the fresh alert suggest that this heat will increase further.

Weather conditions will be relatively comfortable, but the dry weather will be prevailing across most parts of the city. In past few days, temperature has reached 40 degree celsius on March 10.  Weather observer Abhijit Modak noted that the expected heat intensification following a brief mid-week dip has begun. Night temperatures remained well above normal, with the IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories recording 25°C (2.3°C above normal) and 23.9°C (3°C above normal), respectively.

He added that heatwave-like conditions persist from eastern Mumbai suburbs like Vikhroli into the interior Konkan region. According to Modak, areas transitioning from coastal to interior climates, such as Vikhroli, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, are particularly affected due to a combination of interior heat and coastal humidity, resulting in extremely harsh "real feel" temperatures.

However, some forecasters suggested official heatwave conditions might not occur. Athreya Shetty noted the weakening anticyclone over the Arabian Sea, still settling into position, could influence temperatures. He explained brief north-easterly winds in the morning, due to a ridge from the anticyclone, might slightly increase maximum temperatures, prompting the IMD warning, but a full heatwave for the city remained unlikely.
