Even as several parts of Maharashtra have been placed under a yellow alert for heatwave conditions, Mumbai has managed to avoid the official warning despite experiencing intense heat. The city recorded temperatures touching 37°C, leaving residents struggling with uncomfortable conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai is expected to witness temperatures hovering around 35°C for most of the week. Although the city is slightly cooler compared to interior regions of the state, the prevailing heat remains significant, prompting authorities to advise caution and limit outdoor exposure during the hottest hours of the day.

Currently, the minimum temperature in Mumbai stands at around 24°C, and the air remains extremely dry with almost no humidity. Despite the absence of sticky conditions typically associated with coastal weather, the heat feels intense and continues well into the evening hours. Officials have described the conditions as potentially dangerous, urging residents to stay indoors during peak afternoon periods and remain well hydrated. From March 11 onward, daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C. Weather forecasts indicate predominantly clear skies across the city, while the dry spell is expected to persist with no rainfall or cloud cover predicted in the coming days.

Meteorological forecasts indicate that the mercury will gradually rise again by midweek. On March 13 and March 14, temperatures are likely to increase slightly, reaching around 35°C and 36°C respectively. This suggests that any temporary drop in temperature following the heatwave conditions will likely be short-lived. As the weekend approaches on March 15, the temperature may dip marginally to around 35°C. However, the broader weather pattern of bright sunshine and dry conditions is expected to remain unchanged, reinforcing the early onset of summer-like conditions across Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Overall, the weather outlook for March indicates consistently high temperatures ranging between 34°C and 37°C throughout the week. The absence of humidity may make the air feel dry, but it does little to reduce the health risks associated with prolonged heat exposure. Forecasts also indicate no chances of rainfall, suggesting a prolonged stretch of sunny and cloudless days. Weather experts believe these conditions point to an early arrival of summer in Mumbai this year, prompting residents to take precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest hours.
