The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers in Mumbai for Thursday, April 2. A yellow alert has been issued for the surrounding districts of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including Thane and Raigad, expecting Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall & gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.
The weather department also sounded a yellow alert in several other districts of Maharashtra for today, including Ratnagiri, Satara, Ghats in Pune, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Washim, Wardha and Yavatmal.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), issued orange alerts for the districts Dhule, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna and Beed. IMD predicted thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, gusty winds ( 50- 60kmph), hail at isolated places.
Meanwhile, Mumbaikars witnessed clear skies on Thursday morning. However, IMD predicted the temperature will touch 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon today, and 26 degrees Celsius in the evening.
Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city was under the satisfactory category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer app. Kandivali East recorded an AQI of 35, Mulund West at 28, Bhandup recorded AQI of 30, Chandivali (25), Bandra East (27), BKC (23), Borivali East (32), Colaba (23), Kannamwar Nagar (27), Kurla (25), Mahim (25), Vile Parle West (23), all within the good range. Thane reported AQI of 35, while AQI in Navi Mumbai was at 58.
