On Monday, the police received information about a young woman drowning at Marine Drive. Based on this information, the Marine Drive police and fire brigade reached the spot. They retrieved the girl from the sea and took her to G.T. Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

Before jumping into the sea, the woman left her bag at the pier. From her identification card, the police identified the woman as Mamta Praveen Kadam (23). She lived in Andheri and worked for a reputed IT company. She had left home in the morning saying she was going to work. After that, she went directly to Marine Drive station and then jumped into the sea in front of the Intercontinental Hotel.

An officer from the Marine Drive police stated that a search operation was conducted between 11 AM and 12 PM to retrieve the woman. According to eyewitnesses, the woman arrived, placed her bag down, and then jumped into the sea. Sources revealed that the police found the girl's mobile phone, and from the WhatsApp chats, it is clear that she committed suicide due to personal reasons. The Marine Drive police are conducting further investigations in this matter.
