In a shocking incident stemming from a long-standing family dispute, a 22-year-old youth, Abhay Kharwa, was allegedly stabbed to death by his own relatives in the early hours of Thursday. His father, Ajit Kharwa, a cloth merchant by profession, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital.

Based on a complaint lodged by Ajit Kharwa, the Nagpada Police have registered a case of murder and attempted murder against three accused — Vijay Kharwa, Vikram Kharwa, and Vishal Kharwa. According to the police, Vijay is Ajit’s brother-in-law, while Vikram and Vishal are Vijay's sons. All three accused fled the scene following the attack, prompting the police to launch a special search operation for their arrest.

Ajit Kharwa resides with his family in the Ganesh Nagar area of Boisar, while Vijay lives in Chandan Sar Nagar, Virar. Sources reveal that the Kharwa families have been embroiled in a bitter family feud for the past few years, often leading to heated arguments and altercations.

On Thursday night around 3 AM, Ajit had come to Nagpada with his son Abhay to purchase a mobile phone. As they were passing through Baravi Galli near VR Tulla Maidan in Kamathipura, the trio — Vijay, Vikram, and Vishal — allegedly confronted them and launched a deadly attack using sharp weapons.

Both father and son sustained serious injuries in the assault. Locals alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the victims to Nair Hospital. Unfortunately, Abhay was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The police have registered an FIR against all three accused under sections of murder and attempt to murder. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend the absconding trio.
