Due to ongoing road construction and excavations that cause delays and annoyance, Mumbai's roadways have turned into a commuter's nightmare. Uber has implemented a "Missed Flight Connection Cover" to help reduce stress by offering up to Rs 7,500 in compensation to clients who miss their flights because of road delays.
In addition, OPD and accident-related medical expenses are covered.
After working with Reliance General Insurance, the aggregator put the strategy into action in late February. This comes after taxi drivers said they were reluctant to travel to the airport because of the significant chance of delays.

To avoid more disturbance, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is working on 701 km of roads, has put a halt to new plans for road excavation.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Uber is providing coverage to its users for just Rs 3 more per journey. They also stated that the coverage is only good if the "airport" is chosen as the destination when booking the journey.
The estimated time of arrival (ETA) at the airport, which can be anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes, must be monitored. A signed claim form, booking reference number, and ride details are among the papers that passengers who wish to make an insurance claim must present at the time of the claim.
A copy of the ticket, the original ticket for the new flight, the airline's confirmation of no travel and reimbursement certificate, and a crossed cheque for a NEFT transfer will also need to be presented by the passengers. "The booking and travel dates should be reasonable when choosing the insurance," the official said, reported Hindustan Times.
Leaders of the Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh (MRRKS), a group of drivers employed by aggregator taxis, said at a meeting last week that drivers were worried about impromptu fights and insults they were allegedly subjected to by passengers when they were unable to reach the airport on time because of heavy traffic.
