A 20-year-old woman attempted suicide by jumping into the creek from a moving local train near Vashi Creek Bridge on Tuesday morning after allegedly becoming distressed when her boyfriend blocked her on the phone and social media. The shocking incident occurred around 8:30 am. Fortunately, the young woman survived because fishermen in the area rushed to help her in time. According to available information, the woman is a resident of Chembur and was travelling on a local train on the Mumbai Harbour Line when the incident took place.

As the train was crossing the bridge over Vashi Creek, the woman reportedly jumped directly into the water through the train door. However, she had a backpack hanging from her shoulder. Air got trapped inside the bag, which helped her remain afloat instead of immediately sinking. Meanwhile, fishermen from Vashi Village noticed her fall into the creek. One of them, Mahesh Sutar, along with his colleagues, quickly steered their boat towards her location and managed to pull the struggling woman out of the water safely.

Authorities from Vashi Police Station have taken note of the case and initiated an inquiry into the incident. The police are also ensuring that the young woman receives necessary medical attention and counselling following the traumatic episode.

During preliminary questioning by the police, the woman reportedly said that she had been under severe emotional stress after her boyfriend suddenly blocked her on social media and on the phone without giving any explanation. This unexpected action reportedly left her feeling deeply upset and mentally disturbed. Investigators are now trying to understand the full circumstances that led to the suicide attempt. Police officials have confirmed that further investigation into the matter is currently underway, and they are speaking to the woman and other individuals to gather more details about the incident.
