Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a notification restricting the movement of all vehicles, except those essential for the marathon and emergency services, on the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu (MTHL) on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

The Atal Setu, a key link between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, is widely used for seamless and congestion-free travel. However, in light of the marathon, traffic restrictions will be in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and prevent congestion.

As per the official notification, the marathon will be held from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, covering the route from Shivdi, Mumbai, to Chirle, Navi Mumbai. To facilitate this, all vehicles, except marathon-related and emergency service vehicles, will be prohibited from using the Atal Setu from 11:00 PM on February 15 to 1:00 PM on February 16.

Road Closures & Alternative Routes

Restricted Routes:

  1. Atal Setu (Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Sea Link) – No entry for vehicles during the event.
  2. Ramps affected in Nhava Sheva Traffic Division: 
    • Mumbai to Shivajinagar, Ulwe (Descent)
    • Shivajinagar, Ulwe to Mumbai (Ascent)
  3. Ramps affected in Uran Traffic Division: 
    • Mumbai to Pune (Descent)
    • Pune to Mumbai (Ascent)
    • Nhava Sheva to Mumbai (Ascent)
    • Mumbai to Nhava Sheva (Descent)

Alternative Routes:

  1. Vehicles from Uran can take Gavan Phata → Uran Phata → Vashi to reach their destination.
  2. Vehicles from Pune via Atal Setu can use Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway → Belapur → Vashi.
  3. Vehicles from Old Mumbai-Pune Highway, Konkan, and Panvel should proceed via Gavan Phata → Uran Phata → Vashi.
  4. Light vehicles from JNPT should take Gavan Phata → Ulwe-Amra Road → Vashi Creek Bridge.

Exemptions

Police vehicles, ambulances, fire brigades, and other emergency service vehicles will be allowed on the restricted routes. Meanwhile, police have urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
