Motorists travelling towards Navi Mumbai via the Sion–Panvel Highway are likely to face severe traffic congestion during Tuesday evening’s peak hours due to ongoing repair work on the Vashi Bridge. Authorities have temporarily shut two lanes of the bridge, which stretches across Thane Creek just before the Vashi toll plaza, to carry out essential maintenance. This development is expected to slow down vehicular movement significantly, particularly during rush hour when traffic volume is at its highest. Commuters using this key route should be prepared for delays and plan their travel schedules accordingly to minimise inconvenience.

According to officials from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the lane closures have been implemented to facilitate expansion joint repair work on the bridge. The maintenance work is currently in progress and is being carried out on a priority basis to ensure safety and durability. Authorities have indicated that the affected lanes are likely to be reopened by Wednesday, provided the repairs are completed on schedule. Until then, motorists are urged to remain cautious while navigating the stretch and follow traffic advisories issued by officials to avoid unnecessary delays.

The temporary restriction on two lanes is expected to disrupt the smooth flow of traffic, especially for commuters travelling from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai during peak hours. The Vashi Bridge serves as a crucial link between the two cities and handles a substantial volume of daily traffic. With reduced lane availability, congestion is anticipated to increase, leading to longer travel times. Commuters are strongly advised to consider alternative routes wherever possible and allow extra time for their journeys. The ongoing repairs are part of routine maintenance aimed at ensuring the bridge’s structural integrity and long-term functionality.
