In a shocking case that has raised concerns over passenger safety and transparency of cab services at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, a driver associated with Rapido was caught allegedly cheating both passengers and the company by manipulating the booking system. The accused was apprehended in a joint operation by the Sahar Police and Rapido officials.

The incident took place on the night of February 12, 2026. Around 9:45 pm, Rapido’s airport crew was on routine duty at the airport premises. At approximately 10:30 pm, a white car carrying passengers was seen proceeding towards the exit gate between Pillar No. 10-C and 11-C on Level P-4.

During routine verification, discrepancies were found while matching the booking details with the driver’s Rapido ID. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the driver, identified as Anas Ali (24), was using two mobile phones simultaneously. One phone had the Rapido Captain app installed, while the other had the Rapido Customer app.

Police investigation revealed that the accused used one mobile phone to generate fake ride bookings as a customer and then accepted the same bookings himself through the Customer app on the other phone. By doing so, he bypassed the system and illegally picked up passengers within the airport premises, earning money unlawfully.

When questioned by the Rapido crew, the driver attempted to mislead them by showing his own phone as the passenger’s device, further intensifying suspicion. A thorough search led to the recovery of two separate mobile phones from his possession.

During sustained interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to carrying out similar fraudulent activities for a considerable period using multiple mobile numbers.

Sahar Police have taken the accused into custody along with the vehicle and seized both mobile phones. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections pertaining to cheating, and further investigation is underway.
