The J J Marg Police have filed a case against a man who allegedly defrauded seven young people out of Rs 8.75 lakh by offering them work at a reputable Saudi hospital and visas. The defendant, Mohammed Abutalib Syed, is accused of misleading the victims by promising them high-paying jobs overseas but then not fulfilling his commitment. The accused promised the victims positions at a prominent Saudi Arabian hospital, the police said. At a poultry farm, five of the seven victims were assigned to cleaning duties rather than medical positions. While the passports of the other two people were never processed for travel, they were deported back to India after working there for a month.

Mohammed Sayyadur Rahman Mohammed Abdul Hamid (41) lodged the complaint at the JJ Marg Police Station. He claims that he first spoke with Abutalib in November 2023 after the latter assured him that he would set him up with a job in Saudi Arabia. The defendant asserted that he could help with both visas and job placements because a renowned hospital in the nation was in dire need of employees.

The complainant, along with six other people, including his two brothers, paid Rs 8.75 lakh for the procedure because they trusted him. Five of them, Badruddin Farooq Ahmed, Mohammed Ismail Ali, Mohammed Jamaluddin, Mohammed Sarim Ahmed, and Rashid Ahmed, were then transferred to Riyadh. But they were compelled to labour in a poultry farm rather than the promised hospital jobs. They were deported back to India after a month.

The victims approached the police after realising they had been duped upon their return. A case has been filed in response to their allegation, and additional research is being conducted.
