Mumbai: The Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo, located in Byculla (East), will remain open on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, despite it being its usual weekly holiday. Instead, the garden and zoo will be closed on Thursday, February 20, 2025, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) directive.

The zoo is generally closed every Wednesday for maintenance, but as per a previously passed BMC resolution, if a public holiday falls on a Wednesday, the facility remains open for visitors and is shut on the following day instead.

The decision ensures that citizens can visit the zoo and botanical garden on the public holiday to mark Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. The BMC has urged visitors to plan their trips accordingly.
