At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Sahar Police carried out a major operation and arrested two foreign nationals suspected of carrying fake documents. Both individuals have been booked under sections 318(4), 336(2)(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with charges under the Passport Act.

According to Sahar Police, this case is not limited to illegal travel alone but also points towards a larger fake documents racket.

The arrested accused have been identified as 29-year-old Nepali citizen Krishna Marpan Tamang and 67-year-old Bangladeshi citizen Niranjan Nath Subal Chandranath.

Police officials revealed that both had procured Indian passports from Kolkata using forged documents and had traveled to multiple countries with them.

Niranjan Nath had returned to Mumbai from Muscat (Oman). During immigration checks, discrepancies were found in his documents. Upon interrogation, he admitted to the forgery. Meanwhile, Krishna Marpan Tamang was preparing to fly abroad and was caught during the check-in process.

Police are now investigating who supplied them with the fake documents. Initial inquiry suggests that forged Aadhaar cards and other identity proofs were used in Kolkata to obtain the passports.
