There are two baggage scanner machines at Nagpur railway station. One of the machines is in the main entrance of the western side of railway station and the other machine is in the eastern side towards Santra Market side.

Out of these, the baggage scanner machine on the eastern side has not been working for the past few days. With this, passengers are entering the railway station without checking their luggage. There is a possibility of liquor smuggling and hawala money laundering. An RPF inspector R L Meena had caught a passenger with `60 lakh cash, who alighted from GT Express.

If the baggage scanner machine is functioning, it can easily detect objects in the luggage. Starting this machine is important from safety point of view. There is a demand from the Railway Protection Force to repair the machine and take appropriate steps to restore it on urgent basis.

Will buy a new machine

The X-ray baggage scanner machine on the eastern side of Nagpur railway station has deteriorated and is 10 to 12 years old. In such a situation, a letter has been given to the headquarters to buy a new machine. A new machine will be purchased as soon as this proposal is approved.
