The team of Central government visited Nagpur district for inspection of crops that were damage due to floods in August. The team visited Sonegaon Raja, Nilaj and Singardip villages in Kamptee, Parseoni and Mouda talukas. The central team surveyed crops, basis facilities, electricity and other damage due to floods and interacted with the farmers. The farmers were also expressed their resentment, as the central team visited for inspection so late.
The central team has been divided into groups and one group visited Nagpur district on Thursday. Director of agriculture ministry R P Singh supervised the inspection. District collector Ravindra Thakare and ZP CEO Yogesh Kumbhejkar accompanied them. The team visited Sonegaon Raja village in Kamptee taluka on the banks of Kanhan river. The team inquired about the primary help received from the administration, survey happened and demands of the flood affected farmers.
Meanwhile, Tushar Vyas, chief engineer, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, inspected the damage to the bridge over Pench River at Salai Mahuli in Parsoeni taluka. Parsoeni tehsildar Varun Kumar Sahare, executive engineer Special Project, Nagpur Milind Bandhavkar, assistant engineer Sunil Damahe, branch engineer A S Mahajan along with board officer Rajesh Ghude and Talathi Vishwajit Puramkar were in the inspection team. The bridge was completed in 2018. Water was released from Chorai Dam in Madhya Pradesh on August 29. As a result, part of the bridge collapsed due to sudden flow of water. Another team is conducting inspection in Gadchiroli district.
The central team will conduct inspection in Chandrapur and Bhandar on Friday to assess the crop loss due to floods and on December 26, a meeting will be held in divisional office in this regard.
61 villages in dist suffered due to floods
The farmers suffered heavy losses due to the floods which took place across five talukas affecting 61 villages. The floods affected around 90,858 people across 14 talukas. Crops in 22,994 hectare were damaged due to floods.
