A plastic pipe gun used to drive away wild boars and monkeys damaging crops proved dangerous for one boy from Umred. The 12-year-old boy suffered serious injury on right eye while handling plastic gun.

After watching a post viral on social media, the father of 12-year-old boy from Kawarapeth purchased plastic gun for `150 from Sant Jagnade Maharaj Square in Umred. The gun made of plastic and 2 foot in length, was improvised. An inflammable chemical carbonate when used in gun, a loud noise is created. The wild boars and monkey run away from farm due to this loud noise.

The boy some days later took this gun. He loaded inflammable carbonate in gun and poured water on it. Later, he fired one shot. However, this caused serious injury on right eye of boy. After primary treatment, the boy was immediately shifted to one private hospital at Nagpur for treatment. A surgery was also performed. The boy will be able to see from right after one year.

Farmers appealed to remain alert

The concerned authorities informed that hundreds of farmers in Umred area have purchased these guns. These guns should be used only to drive away wild boars and monkey from farms. A appeal has been made by the government to farmers not to give boys these guns to handle. The farmers have been asked to remain alert.
