Centre Point School, Katol Road emerged champions in the Karnewar Under-13 Cricket Tournament after defeating Poddar International School by seven wickets in a thrilling final played at Mujumdar Cricket Academy ground recently.
Poddar International School won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total of 114/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Faizan Syed of Centre Point School made early inroads with tight bowling, but Poddar managed to set a modest target.
Chasing 115, Centre Point School displayed composure and skill, reaching the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of just three wickets. Faizan Syed played a match-winning innings, remaining unbeaten on 64, and was adjudged both the best batsman and most valuable player of the tournament. Armaan Sadhwani impressed in the field and earned the best fielder award, while Veer Mulchandani’s incisive bowling fetched him the best bowler accolade.
The victory highlighted the teamwork and discipline of the Centre Point squad, with captaincy and fielding strategies contributing significantly to their triumph. The tournament was lauded for promoting competitive cricket among young players and recognizing outstanding individual contributions alongside team success.
