Nagpur, May 15

The corona situation in city looks under control currently, with the death toll going below 50 for the first time in 42 days. The positivity rate of patients in Nagpur district has come down to 13 per cent. On April 24, the rate was more than 31 per cent. On Saturday, 1,510 new patients and 48 deaths were reported.

The total number of patients stood at 4,62,110 and the death toll stood at 8,520.

The effects of the ‘strict restrictions’ are giving results. The number of patients are slowly declining. The number of patients, which went up to 8,000 in April, has now reached 1,500.

In the last 15 days, the number of patients have been declining between 500 and 300 per day. The death toll has also come down to 1.84 per cent. However, as the number of tests have decreased, it is doubtful that it is affecting the death rate.

11,611 tests on were done on Saturday. For the first time since March 22, fewer tests have been conducted. On Saturday, number of recovered patients were 4,780 patients. The recovery rate has reached 91 percent. So far, 4,20,331 patients defeated corona.

Same patients in city, rural areas

The number of patients tested positive in city and rural areas were also most same. 774 patients tested positive in city, while 724 in rural areas. 22 patients died in city areas and 14 in rural areas. Shockingly, the patient positivity rate in rural areas is 47.32 per cent. In the city, the rate has come down to 7.67 per cent. Experts say that the health department in rural areas needs to do more work, especially to increase number of tests.
