DSO agrees to provide sports

The District Sports Office has promised city’s divyang sportspersons of a cricket ground and host of sports equipment, informs Secretary, Maharashtra Cricket Association for Disabled, (MCAD) Sanjay Bhoskar, through a press note.

On Monday, office-bearers of MCAD and many divyang sportspersons had met District Sports Officer Avinash Pund, who is also holding the additional charge of deputy director, and handed him a memorandum. The players had blamed that nobody in government machinery was helping them and that their demands and issues very pending since 2014.

The DSO called them for a meeting onThursday and agreed to fulfil their demands.The release claims that the DSO assured them of a cricket ground for practice, cricket kit, nets, equipment required for athletics, archery, basketball, volleyball, carrom, chess, swimming kit, kabaddi mats and fencing among others.

The DSO also promised to let the divyangs use divisional, taluka and district sports complexes free of cost for practice and to provide monetary assistance with the help of State government’s fund meant for development of sports. President of MCAD Uttam Mishra, Bhoskar, Dhananjay Upasani, Anil Kotanglae, Sandip Gawai, Gurudas Raut, Janak Sahu, Matin Beg, Rinkesh Bisen, Sachin Pakhare, Mangala Adamkar, ArjunVaidya, Abhishek Thaware, Roshni Rinkey were among those who were present on the occasion.
