Nagpur, Oct 5

The Scheduled Caste students are awarded Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Foreign Scholarships for the purpose of research as well as higher studies abroad. At present backward class students are pursuing higher studies in various foreign universities. However, the state government did not pay the scholarship amount and the concerned universities closed the student''s accounts. As a result, students will not be able to take exams and their academic future is in jeopardy. This is tarnishing the image of the state government.

Scholarships are awarded to students belonging to Scheduled Castes through the State Department of Social Justice for pursuing higher studies. Scholarships were sanctioned to 74 students for the year 2019-20. But the government did not deposit the scholarship amount. Due to non-payment of fees, the universities in Australia blocked the student''s accounts. Students are sent exam information, admission card and other necessary information to this account. As the account is closed, the student does not get any information. Their academic future is in jeopardy as they will not be able to sit for the exam. Then they are also facing the problems related to their meals and accommodation. Some of the students'' parents have somehow paid but the students whose parents are not able to pay are facing a tough challenge.

‘Take decision promptly’

Some students studying abroad have contacted us and expressed their grievances. They have also contacted the department, but have not received any reply. The state government needs to take an urgent decision in this regard. They are in trouble due to non-payment of scholarship amount. If the scholarship is not credited to the students account immediately, an agitation will be started.
