Nagpur, June 25

Continuing his winning streak, Grand Master Raunak Sadhwani recorded his third victory in Silver Lake Open Chess Tournament at Serbia on Friday.

According to the reports reaching here in the third round, sixth-ranked Sadhwani defeated 23rd seed IM Arsovic Goran. Earlier Raunak won back-to-back rounds to start his campaign on a positive note.

He outclassed Fide Master of Serbia Djokic Mihailo in the opening round in an English opening game. He just took 32 moves to earn full point against low-ranked Mihailo.

In the second round on Thursday ELO 2555 Sadhwani defeated 41st seeded IMkiasan Vladimir of Serbia. Replying to the regular Kings Pawn opening of Vladimir, Sadhwani chose the usual Sicilian defence and after sacrificing couple of pawns, Raunak trapped his opponent to record the second victory in 46 moves.

Among other Indian players, Mullick Raahil lost to countrymate Nihal Sarin on the third board. Raja Harshit settled for a draw with FM Kowalski Igor. Fourth-seeded GM Abhimanyu Punaik who was held to a draw in the opening round by a Chinese youngster defeated FM Kalogeris Ioannis in the third round.

In the fourth round, Sadhwani will take on 18th ranked IM Agmanov Zhandos
