A city lawyer suffering from illness and financial crush committed suicide. The incident took place in Indraprastha Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Pratap Nagar police station. The 45-year-old deceased lawyer was Srikanth Vamanrao Maraskar.

Maraskar’s family consists of two elder sisters, Sujata and Smita. Both are unmarried. Sujata is a doctor while Smita stays at home.

According to sources, Maraskar was upset from quite a few days. Maraskar and Sujata were at home when Smita went out on Tuesday morning. Maraskar was taking rest in his bedroom and hanged himself from the ceiling fan.

At 1.30 pm, Sujata called him for food, but he did not respond, she then called on his mobile.

On not getting an response, she informed her younger sister Smita. She too immediately reached home and called him, but when they did not receive any response, they peeped from the window and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan. They broke the door with the help of relatives and immediately brought down Maraskar, but by that time, he had died. They informed Pratap Nagar police station, who reached the spot.

The police recovered a suicide note from his room. Maraskar had mentioned in his suicide note that he is committing suicide due to diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease and home loan.

The police registered a case of accidental death.
