Although the State government has allowed to re-open indoor halls and swimming pools from Thursday, it will take some time to resume the sporting activities due to maintenance and sanitization process. Therefore, the sporstspersons and their coaches who are very eager to re-start their activities after seven months will have to wait for some time. Most of the badminton halls are set to re-open from Monday but the swimmers will have to wait for more time.
By following SOPs and physical distancing the state government as well as municipal corporation thru the notification has allowed the indoor halls, swimming pools and yoga centres to re-open. The sportspersons and officials of various sports association have welcomed the government''s decision. However while taking the review of city''s sporting facilities it has come to light that it will not possible to resume the activities immediately as the facilitates are in bad shape and they have been closed for a long time following the extended lockdown.
As far as Kamgar Kalyan Mandal swimming pool is concerned it require lot of maintenance and will take at least 15 days to finish the work. The water would be filtered and the broken tiles would be repaired.
Regarding Subhedar Hall the director of Department of Sports and Physical Educaiton of RTM Nagpur University Dr Sharad Survanshi convened the meeting of badminton coaches in two batches to take the review on Thursday. “ From Monday, the Subhedar Hall will be available for shuttlers. We have reduced the duration of each coach by 15 minutes to avoid the crowd at the place. It will be the responsibility of coaches to sanitize the equipment of the players. Parents will not be allowed to enter the hall and I-card would be strict for each player”, he said.
NMC''s Vivekanand Nagar hall and Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Krida Sankul are likely to be re-opened on November 9. Talking to Lokmat Times NMC Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar said, " We are planning to open both Vivekanand Nagar Halll and Tukdoji Sankul from November 5 after sanitizing and cleaning the facilities there".
Head of the Department of Sports of Dhanwate National College Dr Devendra Wankhede said indoor hall of the college would be reopened from Monday for badminton, table tennis and chess activities by taking care of physical distancing and sensitization.
However, the Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur will at least take ten days to resume the activities. Talking to this newspaper DSO Avinash Pund said , “ It will not possible for us to re-open the hall this week. Cleaning process and some repairing work will take some time”, he said.
