Five people were killed in a blast at an aluminium foil factory located in the Umrer region of the Nagpur district in Maharashtra, as per the news agency ANI, quoting police. Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar said two people succumbed to their injuries in the hospital while undergoing treatment, while the death of three missing persons has been confirmed. 

The blast took place at an aluminium foil and powder manufacturing unit in the Umred MIDC area at around 7 pm on Friday evening, April 11. At the time of the explosion, eight workers were working in the factory. They were taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur for treatment.

After receiving information on the blast and fire in the area, local police and firefighters reached the spot. The fire department was challenged in extinguishing the fire due to chemical powder present at the site. During the incident, three fire tenders from the Umred Municipal Council were dispatched to the site. Two additional fire engines from Nagpur Municipal Corporation's fire and emergency services department were later sent for reinforcement. Authorities sealed the area and closed the road leading to the factory due to the rescue operating and firefighting.
