Continuing his winning streak, Nilay Kulkarni triumphed in the fifth Vidarbha-level Kamalabai R Gorle Online Blitz Chess tournament, organised by the Power Chess Academy, on Monday.

The one-day tourney was played on lichess.org platform for all the chess players of Vidarbha. The nine-round tournament was organised in memory of late Kamalabai Ramrao Gorle and sponsored by his son Naresh Gorle from Amravati district. The total prize money of the tournament was Rs 1,500.

Nilay Kulkarni of Nagpur won the event with 7.5 points to his credit. Akshay Patil finished runner-up with seven points under his belt. Ayush Ramteke had to be satisfied with the third spot with 6.5 points to his kitty. Best female prizes were claimed by Shraddha Bajaj and Lakshita Rathod, both from Nagpur.

The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Deepak Chavan, Swati Kumbhalkar and Roshan Sahare. In all, 42 players from Amravati, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Nagpur participated in the nine-round tourney.
