The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) has arrested notorious peddler Wasim alias Babbar Pathan and his accomplice Somlal Vishwakarma on Thursday in Civil Lines. They were caught red handed selling cannabis. NDPS also recovered cannabis worth `50,000.

Wasim had been at large for long time and he has been involved in cannabis trade from years.

There is a small shanty near Vidhan Bhavan between Meetha Neem Dargah and the DCP traffic office. Both criminals live there and they sell cannabis in front of the Dargah. The buyers frequent the area. Wasim being a criminal mastermind, was successful in avoiding the police and the NDPS cell had been working relentlessly to arrest him. The NDPS got a tip-off that Wasim would be selling cannabis with the help of Vishwakarma. The police formed a team and strategy and arrested them. After frisking them thoroughly, the police recovered 3.362 Kgs of cannabis from the Activa. The police confiscated the two-wheeler and cannabis.
