'People's approach towards yoga has changed during pandemic'

According to the international yoga player of the city Dhanashri Lekurwale during the Covid-19 pandemic, the people's approach towards yoga has changed and yoga is becoming one of the popular forms of exercise.

Dhanashri who has represented India in several international championships was interacting with Lokmat Times on the eve of International Yoga Day.

Dhanashri said, " Although daily cases are decreasing, the threat of Coronavirus is still there in the world and in such situation, the people should not become complacent. In the pandemic, it is the responsibility of each person to keep himself or his family safe".

Dhanashri said the lockdown has forced the people to spend maximum time at their homes. It has changed their daily routine like sleeping, dining, exercising etc. " If it is happening with you then you should bring your routine life on the track and start exercise immediately if you give a break to it during the lockdown”, she said.

Speaking about the importance yoga Dhanashri said " It is a way of life that provides a rare opportunity to leave the madness of the world behind and attain inner peace. Along with India, the craze of yoga has increased in other nations also.

Dhanashri said in the present scenario ashtanng yoga can help one to lead a healthy life. In Sanskrit, ashtanga means eight-limbed (asta- eight, anga- limb). Ashtanga Yoga is an eight-limbed path towards achieving the state of Yoga, also known as Samadhi. These limbs can be described in this way: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi.

About Pranayama Dhanashri said “Pranayama are breathing practices that involve the retention of breath. If one does it regularly, it will help him or her to make the immune system strong and also improves your breathing.

Apart from it Suryanamaskar, Vrikshasan, Tadasan will also help the people in living a peaceful life{.

Dhanashri said researchers found that regularly practicing yoga reduces cortisol levels, therefore reducing the negative side effects this hormone can create in the body. Not only can yoga calm the mind, but it can physiologically calm the body,
