"The loss which you have suffered is unfathomable and cannot be mitigated in any respect, but the police department will always stand with you in any difficulty to help", said commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar during a ceremony organised to handover cheques to the families of police personnel, who lost their lives discharging their duties during Covid-19 pandemic. The state government had declared a sum of `50 lakhs as ex-gratia payment for the families.

The CPs office pursued the matter with the state government and handed over cheques to four families at a small ceremony held at Police Gymkhana on Thursday. The cheques were personally given to the family members by CP Amitesh Kumar. Additional commissioner (Crime) Sunil Fulari, DCP Sandeep Pakhale and DCP (Crime) Gajanan Rajmane were also present.

The police personnel, who lost their lives due to Covid-19, included constable Suresh Ramesh Pal (Pardi Police Station), Prakash Santoshrao Patil (Shantinagar), Ravindra Barikdas Damahe (Sakkardara) and Praveen Sahebrao Surkar (Sakkardara). The cheques were handed over to Geeta Suresh Pal, Ranjana Prakash Patil, Sakshi Ravindra Damahe and Sheetal Praveen Surkar.
