RTMNU players win 18 medals

The players who enhanced the reputation of the university were felicitated in the auditorium of Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building on Monday. Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare, while guiding the students, asserted that along with skill, a winning attitude is necessary.

The programme was presided over by Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare, while acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Kakade, governor-nominated Management Council Member Dr. Samay Bansod, and acting Director of Sports and Physical Education Board Dr. Vishakha Joshi were present.

Dr. Bokare praised the students who brought medals to the university. While Vidarbha was not getting anything, the university basketball team started winning medals. It was evident from the attitude of the players that the team would win. The team achieved a thrilling victory in the last nine seconds, which is no less than a surprise. The VC said that the players who fell short this year should work harder next year and win more medals.

The university team won a total of 7 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals. The girls' athletics team won the overall third place . Women's basketball team won a gold medal, badminton women's team won a silver medal, men's chess team clinched a bronze medal, and table tennis men's team won a bronze medal.

In the athletics competition, five gold medals, three silver and two bronze medals were won. Among the girls, Neha Dhabale won a gold medal in the 400 m race, Mitali Bhoyar won a gold medal in the 1500 m race, Tejaswini Lamkhane bagged a gold medal in the 5000 m race, and Swati Uike won a gold medal in the long jump. Neha Dhabale, Mitali Bhoyar, Tejaswini Lamkhane, Swati Uike won a gold medal in the 4×400 m relay. Gaurav Khodatkar won a gold medal in the 1500 m race. Adarsh Bhure won a bronze medal in the 100-meter race, Ashutosh Bavane won a bronze medal in the 800-meter race and Sumedh Kale bagged a bronze medal in the long jump. On this occasion, Management Council Member Dr. Ravi Shankar Mor,Prathamesh Phulekar, Dr. Madhavi Mardikar and Dr. Aditya Soni and others were present.
