Nagpur, Jan 2

The Amravati police have seized silver jewellery worth `30 lakh from a Shivshahi bus leaving Pune for Nagpur. The valuables were being transported in a box, a rucksack and a sack. The Frazerpura police have arrested two in the case.

The driver Mukesh Hukare (resident of Chandan Nagar, Nagpur) and cleaner Mohan Padole (resident of Nagpur) were on their way back by Shivshahi bus (MH 09 EM 1293). This bus was carrying luggage from Pune.

The passenger changed at regular intervals, but their luggage remained same. After the bus left Amravati, the driver noticed this and parked the bus at the CP’s office. From there the bus was taken to Frazerpura police station.

The luggage opened at the police station and silver jewellery worth `30 lakh was recovered. The content of the sack could not be ascertained.

Meanwhile, assistant commissioner of Income Tax Nitin Varghat was contacted in Nagpur. It was learned that the consignment of silver was going to a jeweller in Nagpur.

It was informed that the book of account of the concerned goldsmith will be examined. A case has been registered under Section 41 (1) (d) on suspicion of theft of goods and the goods have been confiscated. Frazerpura police have arrested Pankaj Singh Sudhir Singh Tomar (26, resident of village Anmol, Madhya Pradesh) and another person, who was traveling with the case.

Further investigations are being conducted by senior police officer Pundalik Meshram and police inspector Nitin Magar under the guidance of CP Aarti Singh.
