A large quantity of fake paneer, weighing 239 kilograms and valued at Rs 47,800, was seized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on suspicion of adulteration. The paneer was found in a factory in Ambad, where it was being prepared for sale. Some samples of the paneer have been sent to a laboratory for testing, and action will be taken based on the analysis report.

The incident comes as the demand for milk and dairy products rises due to celebrations for Gudi Padwa and Ramadan Eid, which often leads to an increase in adulteration activities. To protect consumers and ensure they receive safe food products, the FDA has been conducting regular inspections.

According to FDA officials, they received information about a person from M. Sai Enterprises in Ambad who was planning to sell fake paneer. A team from the FDA immediately raided and inspected the factory, where they seized 239 kilograms of paneer. Some samples have already been sent for laboratory analysis. Once the results are in, further legal action will be taken.

As a precautionary measure, the remaining stock of paneer was destroyed by spraying indigo to prevent it from being sold. This action was carried out by Food Safety Officer Sandeep Torane and Suhas Mandlik, under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner Vinod Dhavad and Mahesh Chaudhary.

The FDA is closely monitoring paneer producers and sellers in City to ensure that no fake or adulterated products are sold to the public. The department has also issued a warning, stating that any factory or business can be inspected at any time.

Citizens who have concerns about the quality of food or drugs are encouraged to report issues by calling the FDA's helpline at 1800222365.
