The number of stray dogs in the CIDCO area has increased alarmingly, creating fear among residents. Areas like Ganesh Chowk, Datta Chowk, Tanaji Chowk, Sonawane Chawl, and Swami Samarth Kendra have been the most affected. In just 21 days of April, hundreds of citizens—many of them children—have reportedly been bitten and injured by stray dogs.

Ganesh Chowk, a densely populated locality with children playing in every square, has become particularly dangerous. Locals say the increasing dog population is making it risky for children and senior citizens to step out of their homes.

“There is a constant threat from stray dogs. People are scared to go out for morning or night walks. The Municipal Corporation has not taken any serious action, even after repeated complaints,” said Mangesh Patil, a resident of CIDCO.

Citizens are demanding that Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) take immediate steps to control the stray dog population and ensure public safety. The lack of action from the authorities has led to growing dissatisfaction among residents who feel unsafe in their own neighbourhoods.
