Nashik: Hazrat Satpir Syed Dargah Trust’s Registration Canceled Amid Encroachment Dispute

The Nashik Municipal Corporation removed the encroachment on the wall of the religious place built by the Hazrat Satpir Syed Dargah Trust in Kathe Gali Barisara in Nashik city on Saturday (22). While the hearing was going on with the Waqf Board regarding the relevant land, the revenue administration had registered Satbara Island only based on the Waqf Board's letter. Now admitting that this registration was inadvertently certified, Nashik's District Collector and Sub-Divisional Officer Arpit Chavan has cancelled the alteration registration No. 80/3/3/6 on S.No. 206454.

The name of the trust on Satbara Utara has now been deleted. The demand for cancellation of the registration was made by MLA Devyani Farande along with some organizations. Group on the road coming from Kathe Gali Signal towards Bhabhanagar. At No. 480/33/36/6, out of the total area of Nashik Municipal Corporation 1551.90 sq.m., 257.36 sq.m., apart from open space, is the remaining area. A case is pending with the Maharashtra Taqf Tribunal in this regard.

The name was directly placed on Satbara based on the letter from the Waqf Board. Administration admits that the registration was inadvertently certified. Shops were closed after encroachment was removed. No documents or evidence have been submitted regarding the existence of the Waqf Board. Therefore, Additional Tehsildar Nikam had sent a proposal to the provinces on Monday (24th) stating that this entry was inadvertently approved by the Board officer. Sub-Divisional Officer Arpit Chavan has taken a decision on this proposal in just 24 hours and has made a decision on the Satbara encroachment.

After the decision to cancel the registration of the name of Satpir Dargah Trust, police security was maintained in Bhabhanagar, Kathegalli areas. Shops and roads in this area were closed for two and a half days due to the dispute after the encroachment was removed. However, security in the dargah area is still in place.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Tribunal, Junaid Sheikh, had given a letter to the Revenue Administration to name the remaining area of 257.36 square meters as Satpir Syed Baba Dargah. Without verifying this letter, the Tehsildar Kulkayada and Tehsildar Nashik took Cow Change Record No. 206454 under 14 November 2024. It was revealed that correspondence was made to register the name of Hazrat Satpir Sabyad Baba Dargah Waqf on the property. It was not evident from the records that it was the name of the Waqf Board.
